Spherical midpoint method

The Spherical Midpoint Method is a new symplectic numerical integrator for Hamiltonian systems on spheres. A prime example is Heisenberg’s ferromagnetic spin chain describing magnetic properties of materials. Here are some slides from a presentation I gave at the Foundations of Computational Mathematics (FoCM) meeting in Barcelona. Our method is already featured in a new monograph on Atomistic Spin Dynamics.
